University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, Department of English Language and Literature
Task: This project aims to explore writings of Portuguese/Brazilian-speaking authors in North America in social and historical context. It focuses on the body of works of Luso-American literature and attempts to expose a wider readership to Portuguese and Brazilian voices (e. g. Ildásio Tavares, Kathleen de Azevedo [Samba Dreamers, 2006], etc). The project thus contributes to better understanding of this unique literary phenomenon. Students are expected to bring selected texts together and provide them with commentaries, where necessary.
