Task: Determination of primary soil organic matter quality according to the newly proposed procedure, based on gradual oxidation of the soil sample with a solution of 0.4 mol/l K2Cr2O7 in 12M H2SO4 at 60 °C. The velocity constant of this reaction can be determined by following the reaction kinetics of soil organic matter combustion (carbon loss) in soil samples, which is a measure of the quality of the raw soil organic matter.

Task: there is a large amount of experimental data available at the department waiting to be evaluated by appropriate statistical methods, visualization and duplication.
Activities: Processing and visualization of experimental data. Analysis of results and their preparation for publication in professional journals.
Requirements: Good knowledge of working with some data processing programs (eg Excel, MATLAB, Statistica, etc.), basic knowledge of statistics.

Task: to elaborate a quality literature review of the selected issue and prepare a Journal Paper of the "Overview" type for publishing. Student can select a topic in one of the following areas:
* precise agriculture; * livestock emissions (especially ammonia in farming of poultry and pigs and methane in farming of livestock); * factors influencing odor emissions in livestock;

Topic: The question of biomass gets in the society’s forefront of interest. In the new fields of energetics and renewable energy sources, fertilizers, remediation, reclamation and waste management the role of biomass is widely studied and evaluated. Majority of the research is devoted to the organic part. However, all substrates that are covered in the term biomass also contain variable proportion of inorganic substances - minerals. Detection of present mineral phases is essential for determination of the element binding. This information derives availability or unavailability of mineral phases for soil processes, plant nutrition and finally behaviour in technological processes.
Task: Mineral phases in the digestate will be determined by the X-ray powder diffraction method and with X-ray-fluorescence analyser. Digestate (fermentation residues) is a product of anaerobic decomposition taking place in biogas plants. The fermentation residue is applied to land as fertilizer. The analyses of mineral phases from the digestates provide information on the elements that are needed for plants nutrition and bring information on its quality.

Topic: The question of biomass gets in the society’s forefront of interest. In the field of energetics and renewable energy sources, fertilizers, remediation, reclamation and waste management, biomass is widely studied and used. The search of new cheap co-substrates, with high biomethane yield, is nowadays major issues in order to obtain a more economically feasible process in biogas plants. We used university laboratory fermenters with a capacity of 130 l for biogas yield testing. We test usually mixture of liquid manure, corn and sorghum silage, hay silage, gastro waste and biofuels production waste.
Task: There are determined following parameters in the samples of co-substrates: solids, total organic carbon (TOC), mineral carbon (TIC), combustibles at 550 °C, heat of combustion, element content and the content of mineral phases by the XRD method.
